Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football with volunteer work in the community. The first line of his family was that he's the youngest out of the nine children raised by Eufala through Lucious Selmon. Two, football. He is among three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in all of the nation. For three seasons as the team's starter, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third year in 1975. Selmon graduated with a diploma from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering during his college years. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. He also began his career in the field of business. The year 1988 was the first time he worked as an Account Relation Manager in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of the most notable young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. The year 1975 was the first time he led the team. He joined the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
